Job Title: MEP Specialist
Job Summary: We are looking for a dedicated and experienced MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Piping/Plumbing) Procurement Specialist to manage the end-to-end procurement of MEP services and materials for large-scale construction and infrastructure projects. This role focuses on sourcing, negotiating, and managing contracts with vendors who provide critical MEP services, ensuring efficient and cost-effective procurement aligned with project requirements. The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in MEP systems, a thorough understanding of industry-specific vendors, and a proven ability to negotiate favorable terms while managing and evaluating vendor performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vendor Sourcing & Selection
- Identify and evaluate vendors for MEP services and materials, including mechanical (HVAC), electrical, and piping/plumbing solutions, prioritizing quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Build and maintain a robust database of prequalified vendors who meet project standards and specifications for large-scale construction and infrastructure requirements.
- Conduct market research and vendor benchmarking to stay updated on industry trends, innovations, and competitive pricing, ensuring access to the best suppliers and technologies.
- Contract Negotiation & Management
- Lead contract negotiations with MEP vendors, establishing clear, comprehensive agreements that secure favorable terms, protect project timelines, and mitigate risks.
- Draft, review, and finalize contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry standards, and any applicable regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies within contract terms, addressing potential challenges such as supply chain disruptions, performance issues, and regulatory changes.
- Procurement Strategy & Execution
- Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, and finance teams to develop and execute procurement strategies that align with project objectives, budget constraints, and technical specifications.
- Create and manage procurement schedules for MEP materials and services, ensuring timely delivery to meet critical project milestones.
- Oversee the entire procurement cycle for MEP, from planning and sourcing to delivery and final closeout, providing support for any changes in scope or project needs.
- Vendor Relationship & Performance Management
- Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with MEP suppliers to ensure open communication and efficient problem resolution.
- Implement performance metrics and monitor vendor adherence to agreed quality, safety, and delivery standards, addressing and rectifying any performance issues promptly.
- Conduct regular evaluations and audits of MEP vendors, including on-site inspections, performance reviews, and the requalification of vendors for future project needs.
- Cost Management & Budget Control
- Work with finance and project teams to monitor and control costs related to MEP procurement, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and overall project cost objectives.
- Track and analyze cost variances, implement cost-saving measures where feasible, and maintain high standards without compromising on quality or compliance.
- Prepare financial and status reports on MEP procurement activities, offering insights on cost forecasting, vendor performance, and project alignment.
- Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and company policies in procurement processes and vendor agreements.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all MEP procurement activities, including contracts, change orders, financial records, and vendor evaluations, in accordance with project and audit requirements.
- Support audits and compliance reviews, providing documentation and information as needed to meet internal and external standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CPM, PMP, or MEP-specific certifications) are a plus.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in procurement or contract management within MEP services for construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of MEP procurement requirements, including HVAC, electrical, piping/plumbing systems, and associated materials.
- Proven expertise in contract negotiation, vendor management, and supplier performance management, with the ability to build and manage complex vendor relationships.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and industry best practices for MEP procurement.
